MCA provides legislators about the value of the
arts to the state of Missouri

Advocates will be responsible for making an appointment to visit your
legislator(s) on February 10, 2010. MCA will provide informational support packets for both advocates and legislators.

CUPCAKES FOR THE CAUSE!

Help celebrate our 30 years of keeping Missouri in a creative state of mind...when you check in on February 10, we'll have individually boxed cupcakes available for $5 each. Consider purchasing one for each of your area legislators and delivering them as a way of saying thanks for their support of the arts. Each cupcake will include a message about the importance of the arts to our state and information about MCA.

HAVE LUNCH WITH YOUR LEGISLATOR

MCA also encourages you to consider hosting a luncheon in your Senator’s
office (which provide more space). Invite area legislators to join you and
your colleagues for lunch. Because of committee hearings and lengthy floor
debate, it is difficult for legislators to leave the Capitol. So, we suggest
taking lunch to them! Many area restaurants cater luncheons in the Capitol
and will deliver.

1) Contact your Senator and ask if you can bring lunch in for him/her
and their staff.
2) Explain it is Citizens’ Day at the Legislature and you would like to
visit with him/her while enjoying lunch.
3) Invite other legislators and arts advocates from your region.
4) Contact a caterer in Jefferson City to provide lunch at the Capitol.
Listed below are some suggested contacts who regularly cater at the
Capitol.

Madison’s (pasta & salads) (573) 634-2988
Yen Ching (573) 635-5225
Arris Pizza (573) 635-9225
Mortimer’s (sandwiches) (573) 635-7848
Johnny’s BBQ (573) 634-6220
